After beginning my career as a speech-language pathologist, I discovered how much I really love kids literature. I love the wide spectrum of topics and genre, the opportunity each book has to have an impact (even in a small way) on a young child and the creativity in writing and artwork (picture books really are works of art!). I was fortunate enough to make writing and illustrating a full time career. I self-publish which means I manage the entire process – right up to getting books on shelves!
I live in Sydney, Australia, with my husband and Indy, the cutest dog in the world (really!). We have three children—well, grown-ups now—who I’m incredibly proud of, and I still love spending time with all of them.
I love reading all kinds of stories, especially children’s books—sometimes to children, and sometimes just to myself! When I’m not writing or illustrating, you’ll usually find me painting, drawing or crocheting. I’m not very good at counting stitches though, so my crochet projects often end up with a bit more ‘creative’ than planned! I also love travelling, chaotic family gatherings and long walks with Indy girl.
Whether I’m writing about Australian wildlife or everyday childhood adventures, I hope my stories make children laugh, create curiosity, start conversations and become books that families enjoy reading together again and again.
